The co-founders behind the famous frozen dessert company Ben and Jerry's has announced that corporate owner the multinational conglomerate blocked the launch for an innovative pro-Palestinian ice cream flavor.

Ben Cohen, who established the business alongside his partner, revealed how he will independently develop this new product as part of a personal series highlighting issues Ben & Jerry's has been barred from speaking out about.

Ongoing Conflict Involving Founders versus Corporate Owner

The recent announcement deepens the continuing conflict between the internationally recognized dessert company and its corporate parent, the British packaged goods giant that has owned the ice cream brand for over two decades.

Both founders maintain that Unilever and its ice cream arm Magnum improperly prevented their company against "maintaining its activist principles".

Watermelon Flavor becoming an Emblem of Solidarity

Mr. Cohen announced via social media how he's developing an innovative watermelon-flavored sorbet, requesting public suggestions regarding naming options and potential ingredients.

“I'm accomplishing what they couldn't,” the founder commented in his kitchen. “I'm making a watermelon-flavored frozen dessert that calls for permanent peace in Palestine while demanding repairing the damage that was done there.”

This particular fruit has become a symbol for solidarity with the Palestinian people because of its coloration, that closely resemble the colors in Palestine's national banner – the distinctive four-color pattern.

Historical Activism and Recent Changes

In 2021, the ice cream company ceased sales of their merchandise in areas occupied by Israel, resulting in Unilever selling the Israeli operation over to an Israeli distributor, thus allowing ongoing distribution in the occupied West Bank.

The new product line will be developed under Ben's Best, the activist dessert company which was first created several years back to support ex- political contender Senator Sanders with the product "Bernie's Return".

Leadership Shifts and Future Plans

Mr. Cohen revealed that he plans to create other frozen dessert varieties that address concerns which the company was prevented from addressing publicly by corporate restrictions.

This development follows partner Mr. Greenfield stepped down his position at the company recently, following many years with the organization, mentioning worries regarding how its independence was compromised after corporate moves to curb its social activism.

Previously, Ben Cohen stated how "Jerry has a really big heart and the ongoing dispute with our parent company was breaking it."

"My heart leads me to keep working inside the company to fight for its independence ensuring that the company can fulfill its ethical purpose, the values which established its foundation while upholding for over 40 years," he told journalists.
